סנק

סנק is an unusual word that occurs twice in the Mishnah and three times in the Bavli.

From context, both occurrences in the Mishnah must be understood as moving or pushing or pressing something aside:

Even-Shoshan derives the word from the Akkadian sanaqu, meaning to push.

Epstein in מבוא לנוסח המשנה (p. 1228) points out that in both cases other versions have סלק instead of סנק.  And some Rishonim also seem to have had סלק.  Kaufmann has סנק in both cases though.

The meaning of word in the Bavli is not so clear:

Steinsaltz translates this passage: This follows Rashi who translates מסנקן as עייף.

In a note, Steinsaltz points out that there are a number of explanations for the word

(1) Tired (Rashi)

(2) That it means to push or hit, and in this context means like a kid that has fallen into mud and is flailing and struggling to get out (Teshuvot ha-Geonim)

(3) Full (Geonim an `Arukh)

Rashi explains this line to mean:

Sokoloff calls it an interjection and does not translate it.  He simply says that it is a “word in a charm formula.”

Finally:

סנוקרת here means to be punched in the face or a donkey saddle that hits someone in the face (Rashi)
